Think Before You Speak

February 13, 2026 Van Burch

Psalm 19:14 (NKJV)

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Thoughts lead to words. Words lead to actions. Whatever’s in your heart or you find yourself thinking about, there’s a good chance you’ll eventually put it into action. That’s why it’s always a good idea to think about what you’re thinking about because words have power. They can speak life or they can speak death. They can inspire people or discourage people. They can build up a nation just as well as tear one down. So, how do you choose what to say?

A perfect way to choose your words is to ask yourself - right before you say what you’re thinking – “Would this please God?” You should want the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart to be acceptable in God’s sight. In other words, if God was standing right there next to you, would you say what you’re thinking or switch it up a bit? When you change your thinking, your words will automatically change. It’s a heart thing. So, this Valentine’s Day weekend, say something that will make God’s heart smile.

Speak Holy Spirit

Heavenly Father, I want the words of my mouth and meditation of my heart to be acceptable in Your sight. I will choose my words to lift You and lift up others and speak life instead of death.  In Jesus’ name. Amen.
