Growing up in the hood, I wasn’t allowed to do a lot of things my friends could. My mom set rules for me that I couldn’t begin to understand. I couldn’t go in everybody’s house. I couldn’t go to certain neighborhood stores. I couldn’t hang out with certain kids. I had to be on the porch when the streetlights came on. I finally got up enough nerve to ask my mom, why did I have to follow all these rules? She simply replied, “Because I said so.”

Because of who my mom was, she didn’t need to explain the why. I just needed to do what she said to reap the benefits. Jesus has given you and me commands, that when followed, we too would reap the benefits. You may not know why you have to forgive, why you have to love your enemy, or why you have to go to church errrr Sunday. But when you do it because Jesus said so, then He can release His benefits. Give it a try today – just because He said so.
