Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Looking back to elementary school and learning of Dr. King, it fascinates me today to realize he never made it to the age of forty. He did so many things that were bigger than him that helped states of hate become the United States. I learned he didn’t stand for himself, but he did all those things so that I could stand for myself.

Today, God is asking you to do something bigger than you. Something that will outlive you and change someone’s life forever. You have the life and legacy of Jesus Christ to share with everyone. You have the ability to defend the poor and fatherless. You have the power to do justice to the afflicted, the needy and deliver the poor. As a Christian, you can free people from the hand of the wicked by sharing Jesus. It’s something bigger than you, but you’re not alone. You have help.
