Growing up I was taught many “do’s and don’ts” that would mold and shape my “common sense.” I was taught not to eat everyone’s cooking, trust certain people as far as you can throw them, and many other “Mother wit” lessons. I even was taught the hard ones like which crowds not to travel with and that everyone who smiles in your face ain’t your friend. And even though there were times I didn’t want to hear this good teaching, the words stuck with me my entire life and saved me from a lot of trouble.

The world we live in today needs some good teaching and who else better to do it than some good people who know the Word of God! Now is not the time for us to be quiet. Now is the time we need to preach the Word of God! Make sure your children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews know who they are in Christ. Patiently correct and encourage our people with good teaching whether the time is favorable or not. Our job is to plant the seed and lift the Savior up. God said He’d do the rest. And who knows? The seed planted today may be the good teaching that saves a life tomorrow.
Common sense ain’t common
Heavenly Father, I commit to spreading Your Word. You have prepared me whether the time is favorable or not. I will patiently correct, rebuke and encourage Your people using Your Word and good teaching. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
