It's Not Your Job

But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
— 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)

I know my way around computers. I’ve used my skills to troubleshoot computers, and saved the day many times. At work, we have a corporate IT department, but at my location, I’m somewhat of the go-to-guy when my colleagues experience issues. There are some problems I can’t remedy because IT has placed administrative restrictions to protect our computers from damaging our system. I become frustrated when I get blocked because I don’t believe I will cause any damage, but at the end of the day I have to realize, it’s not my job.

Likewise, it’s not your job to fight Satan. Jesus wants you to resist Satan, causing him to flee, but it’s the Lord’s job to strengthen and protect you from him. When God allowed Job to be tested by Satan, Job was victorious because He didn’t fight against the one that cursed Him, but rather remained faithful to the One he knew would protect him. Don’t allow yourself to become frustrated by doing God’s job. Instead, direct that energy toward honoring God and walking in His statues.

Know your role

Lord, You are faithful. Thank You for strengthening me and protecting me from Satan. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
— This is my prayer
