Don't Be Scared

27th Psalm Series - Day 1

The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
— Psalm 27:1 (NIV)

When I was a child I was afraid to sleep in my bedroom when it was completely dark. My imagination would make lumps of clothes in the dark corner appear to be a monster and even seem like it was moving closer towards me. The darkness made it hard for me to understand I was safe in my parents’ house. My mom purchased a small night light. It shined enough light in my room for me to see I had nothing to be afraid of. As long as I concentrated on what the light showed me, I had nothing to fear.

Life can present some dark corners and make situations seem worse than they really are, but when you concentrate on the light Jesus provides, you too will realize you have nothing to fear. When you face things that are out of your control, rely on the One that is in control. You are safe in Christ. Do not let your spirit turn to fear, hold you back, or imagine yourself defeated. Allow the light of Christ into your dark situation today and walk in the freedom of being fearless.

Shine bright like a diamond

Lord, You alone are my light and my salvation. I have no fear because of who You are. Lord, You are the stronghold of my life and I will not be afraid. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
— This is my prayer
