Don't Re-gift

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
— JOHN 14:27 (NLT)

What do you do when someone gives you a gift you don’t want? You “re-gift” it! You give it away to another person because you have no use for it. Today, I want to warn you not to re-gift God’s peace of mind and heart. This peace is a gift from Jesus. You don’t want to re-gift it by letting someone steal your joy, distract you from happiness, or by bringing you down. The only way they can do this is if you re-gift your peace. So, when the world tries to drag your spirit down today, don’t re-gift your peace! The world didn’t give it, and the world can’t take it away.

I Am Strong

That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
— 2 CORINTHIANS 12:10 (NLT)

As believers we have to learn to lean and depend on Christ. Too often we give up when the road gets rough, when we’re pushed out of our comfort zones, or experience weaknesses. During these times, it’s good to remember they’re temporary, and Christ is about to move in our lives – if we let Him. For when we are weak, we become strong through God. Realize we can’t climb our mountains or break down the walls before us without the power of Christ. Take pleasure in times of weakness knowing that Jesus is about to show Himself strong!

He's able

Not Just a Building

My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.
— 2 CHRONICLES 7:15 (NLT)

Individual prayer is great. You can hear from God while driving to the grocery store, while exercising, or in the middle of a workday. But there is a specific place God chose and set apart to be holy. It’s a place His name will forever be honored. The church. It’s true, we are the church, but it’s also true that God wants us to pray together, corporately, in the church. The church is not just another building. It is holy. It is a beacon of hope for some and a safe place for others. It is a place that God promised to always watch over because it is dear to His heart. It has to become dear to our hearts again.

Let us pray…

Stay in Control

So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
— ROMANS 8:6 (NLT)

There have been more mass shootings than days passed this year. Senseless murders, violence, and acts against God are happening all around us. Human nature would have us seek revenge and pay violence with violence, but as followers of Christ we cannot allow sinful nature to control our minds because it only leads to more death. Therefore, we have to stay in control by letting the Spirit rule our minds. This is key in healing our land and leading us to life and peace. Evil cannot be fought in the physical. It is in the Spirit we have all power and can truly make change.

I Want the Truth

So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don’t believe me!
— JOHN 8:45 (NLT)

God is not out to get you. He’s not waiting for you to sin so He can wag His Godly finger at you. It’s actually the opposite. Jesus provides you with commandments so that you will be blessed and achieve the great life He’s already predestined for you. So, when Christ shows you in scripture how to be obedient, how to love, how to be at peace, how to be prosperous, how to successfully deal with your enemies, believe Him! He is the truth, and His word is true. God’s commands are not to oppress you, but to promote you. And you will know the truth and the truth will make you free.

You can handle the truth

All Over the World

Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in Him is being talked about all over the world.
— ROMANS 1:8 (NLT)

Who knows you’re saved? Does your family know? Do the people on your job know? What about your next-door neighbor? As a believer you have the most powerful message on earth to share: the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It may seem like a dreamer’s statement, but you and I have the ability to reshape the world we live in. And it starts with planting a seed. The next time someone mentions their issue to you, offer to pray for them. If someone asks you how did you get where you are today, tell them it was all Jesus. Get people talking about your faith in Jesus all over the world and watch the change happen!

What God Has Done

Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey Him, bringing glory to His name.
— ROMANS 1:5 (NLT)

People all over this country are granted freedom to tell what they believe in, who they choose to follow, and how they define themselves. It’s strange this same freedom becomes blurry when it comes to Christians expressing their love for God and their belief in Jesus Christ. Regardless of what the world says, you’ve been given the privilege and authority by God to tell everyone everywhere what God has done for them. And this message of Christ is needed today more than ever. Do not be ashamed to tell others what God has done. The world needs your message so that they too will believe and obey Him. Will you tell someone today what God has done?

Everyone Wins

If another believer sins against you, go privately and point out the offense. If the other person listens and confesses it, you have won that person back.
— MATTHEW 18:15 (NLT)

People can be so messy when it comes to dealing with conflict and resolution. I’m sure you know someone that was upset with another person and told everyone how upset they were except the person they were actually upset with. And nine times out of time, the person they were upset with probably didn’t even know they were upset! As believers, we have to set the example. Jesus says to go to the person you have issue with in private and tell them how you are offended. If the person listens and admits their wrong, then everyone wins. Be quick to seek ways to gain a friend rather than create an enemy.

Make the Move

Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
— EPHESIANS 4:32 (NLT)

You know how the saying goes: “Holding on to unforgiveness is like drinking poison expecting to kill the other person.” What that means is when you don’t forgive someone, you’re not hurting them, you’re only hurting yourself. When you hold unforgiveness it’s hard to hold God’s hand. Jesus wants you to forgive as He did. When Christ forgave people that acted against Him, they didn’t get over on Christ. Instead, God raised Christ above them. Likewise, God wants to raise you above those that may have hurt you or done wrong by you. But before God can move, you have to make the move. Forgive that person in your life and God will exalt you.

Let

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
— ROMANS 12:2 (NLT)

The power of change is in your decision to let go and let God transform you into a new person. He does this by changing the way you think. The Holy Spirit that resides inside all believers helps you to remember everything you’ve learned through God’s word. And it’s God’s word that brings about this change of thought. This is why it’s important to study and unite with a bible teaching church. You have to decide to let God change you from the inside out. This small word “let” means you possess the ability to allow God to have His way in your life. Will you let him?

It's a decision

You Are Called

For God’s gifts and His call can never be withdrawn.
— ROMANS 11:29 (NLT)

You have a call on your life. It’s a gift God placed on your life before you were born. That means there’s a specific reason you were created. Your birth was not a mistake. No matter your circumstance, God can use it to your advantage, not against you. When you sin, that will slow the progression of fulfilling your call, but it does not change the fact God called you. And there are many ways Christ can call you. He can call you to be a great father, an awesome mother, a supportive sibling, a change agent, a pastor, a community leader – there are no limits! Your calling will never change, but you may have to.

Answer the call

Tell Somebody

And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying, ‘He is indeed the Son of God!’
— ACTS 9:20 (NLT)

People need a ray of hope today. There is so much negativity and hatred being spread everywhere we turn. It almost seems as though nothing good is happening in our cities, on our jobs, or in our communities. As believers, we can’t wait for someone else to do what Jesus has asked us to do. We have to tell somebody about His goodness. We don’t have to wait for a charge from our churches or local leaders to do this. We can immediately begin to tell everyone of God’s love, how Jesus has changed our lives, and how He can change today’s circumstances. We have to be the voice to provide hope and usher in change. Today doesn’t have to be the same as yesterday. And it starts with believers telling somebody about Christ.

I am not ashamed

Be a Gift

Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God.
— PHILIPPIANS 1:3 (NLT)

God has placed a gift inside of each one of us. It’s a gift to give to others that they may witness the love of God firsthand. It’s to ease the pain of the brokenhearted. It’s to comfort those who mourn. It’s to provide spiritual food to spirits that are starved. Jesus blessed you to be a gift to someone. In other words, to be that unexpected breath of fresh air or reliable shoulder to lean on. Today, help someone down to stand back up again. You can be the answer to someone’s prayer. Share your gift. Be a gift.

I thank God for you!

Connected

Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ The man replied, ‘How can I, unless someone instructs me?’ And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.
— ACTS 8:30 – 31 (NLT)

It’s important for believers to be connected to other believers in the body of Christ. You can study scripture alone, but God didn’t intend for believers to learn in isolation. You should pray by yourself, but you’ll also find corporate prayer strengthens the body of Christ. If you want to learn to drive, you find an instructor. If you want to become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer, you attend numerous lectures and classes. The same should apply when learning how to fully understand scripture. Connect with a bible teaching church and participate in prayer service, bible study and become more involved in ministry. And if you already are, look for ways to make yourself available (like Philip) to those who may not understand what they are reading.

Have Mercy

‘But Lord,’ exclaimed Ananias, ‘I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem!’
— ACTS 9:13 (NLT)

Saul was on the road to Damacus to imprison believers of Christ. On the way there he had an encounter with Christ that would change his life forever. Christ then spoke to Ananias and directed him to restore Saul’s sight, but he knew of Saul’s past and initially didn’t want to do as Jesus directed him. Is someone waiting for you to be obedient to Christ? Can you have mercy and forgive someone for Christ’s sake? When you hear terrible things about a person, remember God gave you a second chance and can use anyone. Don’t be so quick to throw someone away. Instead, know that they still belong to the Lord and allow God to use you to reach them.

Be Different

Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
— DANIEL 6:3 (NKJV)

What separates us from those who don’t know Jesus or have faith in God? We have to make every effort to distinguish ourselves and be different because of the excellent spirit of God within us. This means we have to practice daily to have the same mind of Christ. We have to love others. We have to forgive our enemies. We have to pray for those who spitefully use us. And don’t worry about being taken advantage of while living for Christ. Our God is much bigger than any plan of the enemy. Be distinguished. Be different. Be like Christ.

Power to Please

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.
— PHILIPPIANS 2:13 (NLT)

Are your plans working out for you? Are you reaching the goals you set out to hit this year? If nothing seems to be working for you, don’t give up. Instead, make sure what you have set out to accomplish glorifies God and not yourself. God’s power is working in you, but the power He gives you is a loan to do what pleases Him. Remember to seek first His kingdom and God’s righteousness in everything you do, and He will make your path straight and cause you great success. Better Things

You suffered along with those who were thrown into jail, and when all you owned was taken from you, you accepted it with joy. You knew there were better things waiting for you that will last forever.
— HEBREWS 10:34 (NLT)

“Why does bad things happen to good people?” is a question that is often asked and leaves people pondering and debating the answer. Even when the truth is set before you, trusting and having faith in the only answer can be daunting. The answer to this question is it’s God’s will. It’s also God’s will that after your suffering better things are waiting for you that will last forever! You lost a job only to find happiness and fulfillment in another. You were turned down for an opportunity only for a better door to open. In your temporary suffering God prepares you to receive His lasting blessing. Here goes: Whatever trouble you’re facing today, God has already given it an expiration date! That means, the problem you’re facing, the obstacle in your way, or the enemy that’s trying to steal your joy can’t last past God’s timing. Joy is coming! So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
— DEUTERONOMY 31:6 (NLT)

Have you ever wondered why God allows you to go through things? Why the adversity? Why the enemies? Why the difficulties and setbacks? It’s because God knows who He’s created you to be, and He wants you to realize it. It’s no coincidence when you face difficult times. It’s just a way of God telling you you’re done with the phase of life you’re currently in and it’s time to grow. And God is not telling you to “become” strong and courageous. He’s telling you to “be” strong and courageous because you already are, and He wants you to realize it.
